Blogs are a great place to connect with like-minded people and keep up to date with relevant news. We asked Dianne Yates, who heads up the Serious Injury Team at Birchall Blackburn Law, for her pick of spinal cord injury blogs. Here is what she had to say.

“Well for me it really has to be a combination of inspirational individuals and useful organisations. They all share a passion for the subject and make for fascinating reading – and that includes the Spinal Injuries Association resource – if I do say so myself!
#1 Arash Recovery
Arash is an athlete and an adrenaline junky who fell from a third floor window. The accident left him with an incomplete C7 Asia B injury. He is now a motivational speaker who most recently presented to a TEDx conference. The next speaker to take the floor after him was Will.i.am.

#2 Disability Rights UK
The Disability rights UK blog has a strong focus on physical activity and empowerment. It offers advice and support about partaking in sport and succeeding in the workplace. Advice comes from both those with spinal cord injuries and experts in the field.

#3 Campaign for Rob
This year, Robert Camm won the SIA Inspirational Achievement Award for Young People. He was an active sports person before a car crash left him with a C3 spinal cord injury. His blog shares his experiences as a tetraplegic as he continues to push his own boundaries. Just a year after his accident, he has started studying philosophy and politics at Bristol University.

#4 38 Degrees
The widely celebrated and 38 Degrees website offers a voice to campaigners from all walks of life. Their blog allows you to keep up to date with the latest campaigns. You can also read success stories from past campaigns that have come to fruition.

#5 Russell Dawkins Back on Track
Keen cyclist Russell Dawkins became a paraplegic after a cycling accident in France. He finds solace in the joy of exercise and physical activity. His blog shares updates on his own personal battle and his commentary on life as a paraplegic.

#6 Mark Pollock
Motivational speaker Mark Pollock is an endurance athlete. He has two Commonwealth Games medals and has completed the Everest Marathon and Ironman. He became paralysed in 2010 and has since been motivating people worldwide. His recovery from injury is exceptional due to his use of robotic technology and aggressive therapy. His blog explores his unique attitude towards life, spinal cord injury and recovery.

#7 Lindeanlore
My final choice is a personal blog about life with a spinal cord injury. Connor became paralysed from the shoulders down in a rugby accident at the age of 19. His blog is both realistic and upbeat, sharing his experiences in an endearingly honest manner.
